What is development education?

Development education is about:

  • respecting people's varied ways of life around the world

  • understanding the factors that affect people's lives and link us all to each other

  • working for a fairer, more sustainable future for everyone

What is GLADE?

GLADE is a incorporated educational charity (registration no 1104504) and one of a network of global and development education centres in the UK affiliated to the Development Education Association (DEA).

 

What does GLADE do?

GLADE supports global education in schools, early years, youth and community settings by providing:

  • training programmes on all aspects of global citizenship including human rights and social justice, sustainable development, interdependence, equality and diversity
  • North-South partnerships development and support programmes including school and community linking
  • workshops with young people on particular issues such as children's rights, trade justice, action for change
  • resources - books, activity packs, audio-visual materials and collections of everyday items from many countries or relating to particular topics
  • Learning Materials for Change  
  • innovative projects that promote global understanding.

What matters to GLADE?

  • Respecting and valuing diversity

  • Our individual roles as global citizens in reducing global poverty and achieving the Millennium Development Goals

  • Developing sustainable communities and lifestyles
