BAGS OF CHOICE

boc_image1.gif (9030 bytes) DO you want your pupils to help shape our future?
DO you want them to be involved in a project that can make a difference to their local community?
DO you want to give your pupils the chance to 'THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL?

Bags of Choice is a 2 year project involving 8 schools working in partnership with their local supermarket.   Each school has developed and put into practice a waste management policy, with help from GLADE, a waste minimisation specialist and Carymoor Environmental Centre.  One class from each school has worked with their local supermarket to research carrier bag consumption, developed a questionnaire to ascertain the public’s needs and desire for change, researched more sustainable packaging nationally and globally, developed alternative packaging, presented their findings to the store; developed a customer awareness campaign for supermarket customers, and finally evaluated changing practice.
